At present there are only 4 Sangoma in the United States. Training to become a Sangoma takes place in South Africa under an experienced Mentor and elder Sangoma. Training may take anywhere from 2 to 5 years depending on the advancement of the thwasa (apprentice Sangoma) and their ancestral spirits.
