How does OED plan its work program?
OED works to meet ADB’s poverty reduction strategy. It plans its work program to contribute to the development effectiveness of future ADB operations and ADB’s accountability for sustainable development results and effective use of resources. It also adheres the principles embodied in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness (viz., ownership, alignment, harmonization, managing for results, and mutual accountability). Previously, only annual work programs were prepared. Beginning in 2005, a 3-year framework was developed. Consultations for preparing the 2006-2008 work program were wide. Discussions on priorities for evaluations were held with the Development Effectiveness Committee, the President, and all Vice-Presidents. Inputs were also sought from the heads of ADB’s operations departments as in the past. OED’s work program has become more strategic and more integrated, with one evaluation feeding into another.
