How does Nova Scotia compare with other provinces with regard to regulations/policy for disclosure of wrongdoing?
When the Nova Scotia Government developed these regulations in the Summer of 2004, there were no other provinces with formal free standing regulations under the caption of “Disclosure of Wrongdoing”, Nova Scotia was the first. As of the Summer of 2004, other provinces had mechanisms within existing legislation, similar to what Nova Scotia had in place before these regulations, which provide processes and protection under specific circumstances. However, wrongdoing is a subject of interest for other provinces and this is a changing environment.
