How does natural selection work and how does it explain adaptation?

0

Natural selection is when a certian characteristic of an animal is more effective in nature than another. For example, there are two birds of the same species. One bird is larger and stronger while the other is slightly weaker and smaller. The larger and stronger bird is more likely to live than the smaller one. Since the bigger one lives its more likely to pass its genes on to the next generation, making more bigger birds while there are no more smaller birds. Because the bigger birds survives more often, its “naturally selected” to make the species more like it and therefore make more of the species live longer. This is basically an adaptation, changing something about something so it is easier to survive or exist longer.
