How does my Umail account affect my directory login?

0

If you are a student at UCSB, or take a class at UCSB, you are automatically set up with a Umail account that provides an email address which provides a UCSBnetID and password for you. Your UCSBnetID is the first part of your umail email address. Umail is synced with the directory in that if you do not already have a UCSBnetID and/or password, then Umail will add it’s userid and password to the directory as your UCSBnetID and password. When this occurs you can no longer change your UCSBnetID and password at Ureset, but must do it at the Umail web site.
