How does mumps and STD cause infertility in men?
I don’t know enough about mumps in order to answer, but as far as STDs… infertility in men isn’t as common as infertility in women because the structures of men’s anatomy is not as important in producing and transporting sperm… but it could be possible. Bacteria specifically is the usual culprit for infertility issues as the bacteria if left untreated can cause scarring wherever it has been growing… in women this means it could cause scarring of the fallopian tubes and the uterus, which can have drastic effects on her chances of etopic pregnancy, her ability to transport a fertilized egg to the uterus where it should be growing, and once there scarring can impede the ability to attach correctly. In men however, the only purpose is to create sperm and get it out of the body. Scarring could become a problem if there is enough to actually cause blockages or impede the body’s ability to get sperm out.
