How does Motorola handle W18 reports and material certificates for electronic components from third parties?
In some cases, electronic components such as resistors and capacitors may not have been purchased directly from the manufacturer but instead are sourced through distributors or agents. As a result, it can be very difficult to get W18 reports and material certificates. While it may be possible to send samples to the test lab, this is costly and time consuming. Components usually are not made of homogenous materials, so this also limits the effectiveness of sending the part to a lab for testing. Try to get the data from the component manufacturer through the distributor. Indeed, a few component manufacturers do make their data available to the public. In the future, Motorola believes that such data will become even more readily available since component manufacturers are building databases to share this information with their customers. At this time, however, the availability of this data is limited. Most distributors do not have the data to properly represent material content. Suppliers
