How does Metro map the parcel data?
The parcel lines on these maps are based on data from tax maps, plats, deeds, aerial photography, and surveys. That can create confusion, because those sources don’t always agree and some can be more accurate than others; parcels may sometimes appear to overlap, and building footprints may straddle parcel lines. We constantly work to update and adjust these maps, and they are continually becoming more accurate, but they are still only a graphic facsimile of the actual, unique physical locations. Only a professional survey of the property can show exactly where your property begins and your neighbor’s property ends.
