How does Metformin-Pioglitazone / Generic Actoplus Met work?

0

Actoplus Met has two components that act in different manners. Metformin suppresses hepatic gluconeogenesis and glucose output from liver. Metformin enhances insulin mediated glucose disposal in muscle and fat. Metformin also enhances GLUT1 transport from intracellular site to plasma membrane. Pioglitazone is a selective agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated factor γ (PPARγ). PPAR receptors are found in adipose tissue, skeletal muscle and liver. Pioglitazone reverses insulin resistance by stimulating GLUT4 expression and translocation.
