How does Maryland rate compared to other states in terms of how much is spent on developmental disability services?
We rank 43rd in terms of Maryland’s spending on developmental disabilities services. Only eight states rank lower: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, Texas, and Virginia. (The measure is referred to as “Fiscal effort,” which is a ratio that ranks states according to the proportion of their aggregate statewide personal income devoted to the financing of MR/DD services.)
