How does MapViewer compare with other applications, like Google Earth, for example?
The SLIP Map Viewer application is a specially customised version of an Amristar geospatial application. In terms of functionality they both do the same thing – allow you to view geospatial information. However, MapViewer is better than Google Earth (GE) in at least 2 ways. Firstly, the imagery in MapViewer is a lot more detailed than GE. SLIP maps are taken by aeroplane at low altitude whereas GE uses satellite so the resolution isn’t as good.
