How does malathion work?
A. Malathion inhibits the proper functioning of the nervous system of the adult mosquito. It reduces the capability of the mosquito’s nervous system to pass chemical signals to tissues in the body. At sufficient doses this leads to nervous overstimulation and death. Mammals break down and eliminate malathion and its metabolites faster than an insect, making malathion selectively toxic to insects. A very small amount is sufficient to kill a mosquito.
