Macbeth’s ambition makes him want to take over the thrown and his superstition makes him believe what the witches have said (against Banquo’s advice) and the fact that he’s a tool makes him do what Lady Macbeth wants i.e. Kill the king. After this, he becomes drunk with power and kills a bunch of people to hide the first murder until he becomes calloused and indifferent.
