How does lump sum funding differ from previous methods of allocating money?
Initially funds were allocated to schools based on specific programs (i.e., basic needs, PINS) with no flexibility permitted from the program intent. Lump sum funding permits the school principal to move funds from one program to another for funds that are included in the “lump” (e.g., PINS funds could be used for basic needs). WSF will remove the program identifier from the funds and allow the principal and SCC to determine the use of the funds to meet student achievement goals.
