How does Legal Aid Online work?
Legal Aid Online is similar to online banking. You will need a USER ID and password, which we will provide to you. For certificates you have acknowledged and for duty counsel assignments, you will be able to enter account information directly into Legal Aid Ontario’s computer system. Once you have finished filling in the information, just click “submit” and you’re done. The system matches your account against the services (and disbursements) authorized and if it matches, it is processed automatically, with payment to follow in the next scheduled direct deposit. For duty counsel, there is an approval process. The supervisory duty counsel in your area must approve your account before it can be processed.
