How does LCL work?
LCL is funded by donations from individuals and law firms and from grants. The Minnesota Supreme Court, using funds received from lawyer license fees, supports local’s lawyer assistance services. LCL currently has two full-time staff and over three hundred members, many of whom volunteer to support LCL activities and to mentor other lawyers wanting support. DOR (Delivering Organizational Results) provides 24-hour crisis telephone counseling, assessments, short-term counseling, and referrals to appropriate care providers. LCL’s CLEs and other educational seminars are presented by lawyer members and LCL staff, who also assist with interventions, personal and organizational consultations, and policy efforts to create more supportive structures within the legal systems and law schools.
