How does Judaism provide a system for changing and/or modifying one’s nature and character?
(top) Judaism has 3,500 years of wisdom on character development and it shows. Most of us who work on ourselves focus on our strongest assets – the pianist, the athlete, the doctor keep on working away at their piano-playing, running and medicine, especially in this era of super-specialization. If our worst trait is really getting in the way then we will work on that too. If we just lost another friend because our quick temper got the better of us for the umpteenth time then we will have no choice but to try and do something about this. But most of our potential, in most of us, simply remains underdeveloped. Judaism is a system of developing all of oneself, of actualizing all of one’s potential.
