How does Itraconazole / Generic Sporanox work?
Sporanox works similar to other azole antifungal drugs by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 oxidase-mediated synthesis of ergosterol. It interferes with the cell wall formation of the fungi, eventually killing it. Sporanox is a very effective drug against aspergillus. Where most other antifungal medications fail, Itraconazole can successfully treat systemic infections like aspergillosis, candidiasis and cryptococcosis.
