When iTools is installed, it uses the “hostname” entered into the Network control panel on OS X Server and the domain name entered in the “Search Domains” section of the Network control panel to set up a number of configuration files and settings on the machine. It will use those settings to configure a virtual host container in the apache.conf file, and it will create default DNS files based on those settings as well.
