How does Italian Venetian Plaster differ from Faux Finishes?
Faux Finishes consists of various decorative techniques used to simulate parchment, marble, wood grains, metallic, or old looking walls. These finishes are created with paint, joint compound and other synthetics. Techniques are applied with feathers, sponges, plastic bags or rags. Some finishes can be touched up, many cannot. At Bella Faux Finishes, there are a number faux finishes that we can offer. But our passion lies in the Italian Plasters. In our opinion, this finish is just beyond what can be achieved using paint glazes, feathers or rags. The quality and durability of the Italian plaster finish is evident the first time you feel it. Then when you step back and admire the incredible depth and beauty of the finish, in my opinion, it is just not fair to compare a faux finish to the “Italian Venetian Plaster” finish.
