How does it stand in light of the biblical message/worldview?
• Sadly, alcohol abuse is a growing problem among teenagers and young adults. Marketing has pounded them with the message that drinking is normal, fun and a necessary ingredient to “partying.” Alcohol abuse leads to drunkenness, lowered inhibitions and a plethora of resulting dangerous behaviors. At its outset, this episode of True Life informs viewers of this sad fact: An estimated 5.5 million Americans under the age of 25 are alcoholics. • The Scriptures offer guidance and parameters related to alcohol consumption. According to the Bible, there is nothing wrong with the consumption of alcohol in moderation. However, drunkenness is forbidden and sinful (Proverbs 23:20-21; I Corinthians 5:11; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:18; I Thessalonians 5:5-8). While this episode of True Life does not call drunkenness a sin, it does show the sad avenue many young people go down when their drinking becomes an addiction.
