How does it fit into the Judge Dredd universe?
Woolf: We’ve written our own story, so it’s not related to any existing story. We’ve just picked a neutral time period when none of the major, apocalyptic events are happening. It’s a story in its own right about Death, whose mission it is to try and free the dark Judges. They are freed and as Judge Dredd you must recapture them. Do you think Judge Dredd is a big enough mainstream licence to garner attention? Woolf: I think in England and the US it’s really well known. It’s not as well known in the rest of Europe, but as a first-person shooter, it has such a strong graphical look. Obviously the licence is important, but ultimately the gameplay and graphics dictate to a certain extent how popular things are. So I feel there are enough unique selling points in this game to really make a difference. So what makes the game “Judge Dredd”? Woolf: Firstly it’s set in Mega City One.
