How does it feel to be one of the winningest coaches in LSU volleyball history right at home?
I have a longstanding tradition with LSU. I grew up here and the fact that I get to coach here is just a great honor for me. Winning is certainly important, but it’s the experience the kids get and them being a part of such a great tradition with LSU Athletics. The fact of where the program is and where I am within the program is certainly not the most important thing. It’s more about where the kids are and where they’re going. Q: Your players have achieved tremendous academic success. How do you make this a priority in college athletics? A: There’s no professional league for volleyball. So the ultimate that they can walk away from LSU is with is their degree and prepared for the next step. Certainly academics lead the way for them to step into a very successful job out of college. I think our CHAMPS program does a great job in helping them do this. Our Academic Center is wonderful. It’s the best in the country.
