How does it actually measure construction drawings?
First, you roll out your blueprints flat upon the digitizer surface and select the particular sheet you want to measure. The digitizer can measure through approximately 50 sheets. Make sure that the drawing is completely flat and stationary. Then, you enter the scale of the drawing using either a plastic menu card (non-computer version) or your software program. When you touch any two points anywhere on the drawing with the electronic pen, the digitizer will measure the exact distance between those points. For example, if you take the pen and touch two points on the drawing which are two inches apart, and you’ve indicated that the drawing is in “eighth scale” (1/8 inch = 1 foot), the digitizer will tell you that those points are exactly sixteen feet apart. Digitizers will measure in any architectural, structural, or engineering scale and you can even measure copied or faxed drawings!
