How does IPL differ from laser hair removal or electrolysis?
Although electrolysis is always permanent, especially on the chin, upper lip or neck and on all colors of hair and skin shades, such as white, gray, blonde, red, brown and black, IPL has advantages in that it can treat a large number of hairs in a given area in a short time. A patient need come only once every five-seven weeks for a five to 15-minute treatment. The cost, when divided over five/seven weeks can be less expensive than electrolysis and far less expensive than laser. IPL can have less discomfort than in an electrolysis treatment. Compare how inexpensive IPL is versus laser treatment and the fact every hair is treated (as opposed to missed hairs with electrolysis). Electrolysis requires 15 minutes to three-quarters of an hour every week for about one year); IPL requires minimal maintenance after a successful series of treatments. When all the facts are considered, IPL becomes the treatment of choice for many.
