How does induction mentoring and support relate to the ProTeach Portfolio?
Although the emphasis in the first 2 years of teaching is on Standard 1: Effective Teaching, new teachers can begin looking toward the professional certificate 3 standards and 12 criteria as a foundation for analysis and reflection in their teaching practice as they are receiving induction mentoring and support. During induction, new teachers must keep their Professional Growth Plan (PGP) current, making revisions as necessary and appropriate. The PGP is the document that identifies the specific competencies, knowledge, skills and experiences needed to meet the 3 standards and 12 criteria set forth in WAC 181-79A-207.
