How does impres work?
An impres system combines the use of a “smart” battery, a “smart” charger, and a protocol to allow communication between the battery, charger and other accessory devices via a single wire. Information about the battery is stored in memory in the battery. The charger uses the battery information to control battery maintenance automatically. Products can also be designed to use the battery information for features such as battery identification, fuel gauging, battery cycle count, etc. A: impres was designed for compatibility with nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride, and lithium-ion batteries.
