How does hypnosis work?
The critical, thinking mind, which acts as a filter for everything we see, hear, feel or experience is bypassed to allow the hypnotist access to the highly suggestible subconscious mind. The Certified Hypnotist is trained and experienced in giving properly worded suggestions to replace old, negative programming with strong, positive suggestions to adjust habits of thought, feeling and behavior to achieve the changes you desire. Hypnosis works easily, safely and effectively. Suggestions are easily accepted by your subconscious mind. These suggestions then carry over into your daily life.
Our minds work on two levels, conscious and subconscious. We make decisions, think and act with our conscious mind. The subconscious controls our habits. In hypnosis the conscious mind is subdued, while the subconscious becomes more aware. Suggestions given by the hypnotist are readily accepted in this altered state. Also, the subconscious is not subject to time. This is why clients often state that habits seem “easy” to break after hypnosis.
Hypnosis works by lowering the conscious state by relaxing the body and mind, putting you in a state of heightened suggestibility. This state is called a trance. Hypnosis works on belief systems. Suggestions for change are much more potent to the subconscious mind than to the conscious mind, because the subconscious mind doesn’t filter out suggestions the way the conscious mind does.
