How does HR recognize gay marriage and same sex partners?

0

Staff may register as being in a same-sex relationship with their partners. This then permits partners to receive the same benefits as spouses of married heterosexual staff. When the state first allowed same sex couples to marry, HR sent a notice that all staff registered as partners would need to bring proof of marriage to the office in order to continue to receive benefits. This notice was later rescinded pending the state vote on a Constitutional amendment.
