Financial aid is determined through analysis of each family’s financial resources, including income, assets, financial obligations, unusual expenses, family size, and other children attending independent schools or colleges. To determine fair and equitable awards, Hotchkiss subscribes to the principles and needs analysis system of the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid. Families submit a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) for processing to SSS, which then forwards the results to Hotchkiss. (One PFS form can be used to apply for financial aid at multiple schools.) In addition, families submit a photocopy of their completed 2007 and 2008 tax returns with all schedules and W-2s (or for international families, proof of income and tax forms) to the Hotchkiss School Office of Financial Aid. Using individual information and uniform guidelines, the Director of Financial Aid makes decisions about financial aid awards.

Financial aid is determined through analysis of a familys financial resources, including both income and assets. To determine fair and equitable aid awards, Hotchkiss subscribes to the principles and the needs analysis system of the School and Student Service (SSS) for Financial Aid. Families can complete a PFS online or send in a paper version to SSS. To complete the application process, families must also send to SSS a copy of complete 2008 and 2009 tax returns with all schedules and W-2s. (For international families, please send proof of income and tax forms to SSS). Families filing tax returns in the United States must sign, but not date, Form 4506-T and also send the form in to SSS. SSS will process the application and make the results available to the Hotchkiss Office of Financial Aid. The Financial Aid Committee uses this information to make decisions about financial aid awards.
