How does Hollander compare to “Everwoods” Greg Berlanti as a show runner?
Williams: David and Greg are both extremely gifted men. I think one thing that’s different is on “Everwood” Greg was in Los Angeles and the cast was [filming] in Salt Lake City. Greg made extraordinary efforts to come up and make his presence felt and we appreciated it. David is with us in this location, RFK Hospital in Hawthorne, Calif. This is in its infancy and David writes most of the episodes with a much smaller writing staff. I try to leave him alone as much as I can. I try not to knock on his door, but he’s aware of everything going on. Let’s face it, we’re really being tested by TNT to see if this is something the audience is going to watch. … I love David so much. He’s such a good guy. I hope this takes off for him. Owen: What did you know about transplantation before taking this role? Williams: I knew nothing. I knew very little and went down to UCLA and was introduced to surgeons down there and what I saw wasn???t a transplant, which they do all the time, it was open-heart
