How does Hedonisia derive its farming income?
Because the Hawaii County classifies Hedonisia as a farm, we consider 75% of a Guest’s lodging fee to be a “farm fee”. The Farm Fee allows Guests and Volunteers the right to harvest any of the many agricultural crops we have growing on the property. This provides us a farming income as well as saves us the labor cost of actually harvesting our crops and selling them at the market. As well, it allows Guests and Volunteers the opportunity to enjoy an eco-friendly vacation and work and eat of a farm. This is one of the most eco-friendly ways to farm because people eat what is grown right on the property eliminating transportation, storage and marketing costs.
