How does Health Check compare to other food information programs?
There are a number of different programs with different package symbols. Some of these programs are run by private food companies for their own products and are based on different sets of nutrient criteria, so it’s difficult to compare our program to theirs. Health Check is the only third party program in Canada that objectively evaluates any food that applies against Canada’s Food Guide recommendations and approved Canadian nutrition claims, and is the only program in Canada that is publicly credited by senior health experts to improve the nutrition profiles of commercial foods.
