This crisis comes after 5 if not 10 years of lack of governmental oversight within the mortgage and credit industries as well a complete disregard by corporations for their high level decisions on the consumer and the economy. Also, elected officials, CEOs, portfolio managers etc. were charged with the confidences of the American people and have failed miserably. However, every coin has two sides. The current market offers opportunities and some pitfalls. I think for the average consumer this is an opportunity to be come educated about how the markets work and to really determine if their behaviors and strategies are consistent with any long term financial goals they may have.
