HOW DOES HANDMADE SOAP DIFFER FROM COMMERCIAL SOAPS?
Handmade soap is made from all natural vegetable ingredients through a method known as cold process. The lye and carrier oils generate a heat which cooks and cures the soap product at low temperatures. During the curing process, glycerin is produced which moisturizes the skin. Commercial soap makers remove the glycerin and sell it to a secondary market. Glycerin is a natural humectants keeping the skin soft, smooth, and moisturized. In contrast, commercial cleansers contain animal tallow which can clog the pores, dry the skin, and aggravate eczema.
