How does GXMO work at Columbus State?
The starting point is RAD 190. This is the didactic or classroom portion of the GXMO education. This quarter long class helps you understand how x-rays are produced, how to use the x-ray machine controls and equipment to form a diagnostic image, and how to work safely with x-radiation. After passing RAD 190 with a C or better you are qualified to take the written GXMO license exam, (similar to taking Driver’s Ed and then taking the written drivers’ license test). This 60 question exam will test your knowledge based upon what you learned in RAD 190. After passing RAD 190 you can then take RAD 141A. This one or two day (8 hour total) course will introduce you to positioning terms and show you how to process images using both film and computed radiography. RAD 141A is typically scheduled early in the quarter so that you can also complete positioning modules during the same quarter. After passing RAD 141A you may take any of our 12 hour positioning modules. Each of these involves 12 hours
