How does Gwen Stacy fit into the film?
This is the movie where we introduce Gwen, so she doesn’t have a lot of scenes. But we’re setting her up for big things in the future! She interacts with all of the characters, and there’s a love triangle between her and Peter and Mary Jane. Mostly, this film is the introduction of Gwen Stacy into the Spider-Man universe. And Harry Osborn? Harry, when he’s the Green Goblin, has a new glider that’s called the Sky Stick. The old one is gone. He uses sky-boarding as a weapon along with jujitsu. With the new board, he can smack Spider-Man and flip him around. I wanted this film to have some fights in the sky, and that’s where the Green Goblin fits in. Are the special effects even bigger than before? For me, the best visual effects are the ones that don’t call attention to themselves, so I wanted the changes to be subtle.
