How does gum recontouring work?
It is fairly easy. After Dr. Folck discusses what you wish to do in the initial consultation, the procedure can begin. If Dr. Folck is correcting a smile with too much gum tissue showing, he will first anesthetize your mouth. Then, using a soft tissue diode laser, Dr. Folck will vaporize the unwanted tissue. The heat of the laser is absorbed by the water in the gums, which breaks apart the molecules and causes the tissue to vaporize. There is no danger to the teeth, and the laser seals the tissue immediately, so there is no need for stitches.
