How does GSE’s LIQUEX™ technology work for oil shale?

0

Mined oil shale is ground into fine particles ranging in size from 20 mesh (2 mm) to 60 mesh (0.25mm) and then blended with GSE’s proprietary reagent, GSX™, at ambient or near ambient pressure and temperature in a simple mixing vessel to dissolve the kerogenous organic matter. The resultant liquid and particulate-solid streams are subsequently conveyed to a filtering system to separate them. The liquid stream comprises a homogeneous solution of kerogenous organic matter and the extraction reagent. The particulate-solid stream, to be discarded as solid waste, comprises mainly inorganic mineral matter, such as clay, sand and dolomite, as well as a trace amount of residual kerogen.
