How does Greece ensure its energy self-sufficiency?
Unfortunately, energy self-sufficiency is a utopian idea. In today’s world, where everything is global and interconnected, this cannot be ignored. Greece is not only a member of the EU, but also its fervent supporter and we aspire to develop it in conjunction with our European partners. In this sense, we take part in the European energy policy, within the framework of which our countries are transformed into energy centres, mainly through the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline, but also through the natural gas pipeline, which starts in Turkey and ends in Italy, through Greece. – Which European best practices could Greece share with new-member state Bulgaria? I think that having a European best practice depends on whether we uphold the fundamental values and rules which form the Union’s foundations.
