How does Glutathione cause skin whitening?
The primary determinant of our skin colour is the pigment melanin, to understand how Glutathione makes the skin whiter/lighter one has to look at an enzyme called Tyrosinase. Tyrosinase is a copper-containing enzyme present in plant and animal tissues. Tyrosinase catalyzes the production of melanin by oxidation, in the same way that the exposed flesh of an apple turns brown when exposed to air. The less Tyrosinase present in your body the less melanin being produced, which in turn leads to a lighter skin. Glutathione inhibits the Tyrosinase enzyme activity and the skin lightening process gradually develops once the Tyrosinase has been inhibited. How long will it take to see the skin whitening affect? It takes an average of 4-12 weeks for the Glutathione to build a foundation for the whitening process to start. The lightening of skin is a gradual process but you should start to notice your skin getting shinier and healthier after about 3 months. Why Vitamin C? For Glutathione to inhibit
