How does glass sandblasting work?
Have a look at the site below. It came up by simply putting “sand blasting glass” in Google. Sandblasting is quite simple in theory; it’s just a way of shooting sand at a surface, at very high speed. It’s often used to clean things; if you know how sandpaper works, it’s the same principle. Sand can be quite abrasive and rubbing paint with sandpaper – which is just sand glued to stiff paper – smooths it. Sandblasting works the same way, except it’s much faster and stronger. You can use the same process using glass, funnily enough – some sandpaper uses fragments of glass as it’s so sharp. Glass is quite difficult to work – you can cut it quite easily but to actually alter its surface in any way is difficult. You can scratch it with diamonds, which are very hard, but things like knives and other sharp things won’t usually do anything. You can also paint glass, obviously, but that’s not the point.
