How does George Mason University respond to chemical spills?
Once the spill is reported to University Police, the police will contact emergency services if necessary then contact EHS to respond. EHS will assess the spill, secure the area, attempt to minimize any impact to the environment, and determine if the spill can be addressed with available university resources and trained personnel. Regulatory agencies will be notified as appropriate and if necessary the services of an emergency response contractor or local emergency response unit will be called to respond and assist with the containment and cleanup.
