How does funding for mature students differ to that for young students?
The categories on funding set out within this site are aimed at both young and mature students. Any differences that occur in funding arrangements between the two groups are highlighted at the appropriate points. Some important and in some instances additional points to note are: Unlike young students, mature students who are eligible to have their tuition fees paid for them by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland SAAS, do not have to pay the Graduate Endowment upon the successful completion of their degree. The nature of the Mature Students Bursary differs to that of the Young Persons Bursary in that it is administered by universities rather than the Students Awards Agency for Scotland SAAS. Its purpose is to help meet additional living costs associated with registered childcare and excess travel costs to childcare facilities and housing.
