How does Forestry Commission Wales function within DRA?
Forestry and woodlands are a devolved power and therefore policy and delivery is now part of the Assembly Government’s responsibility. Forestry Commission Wales is charged with a number of functions including the development of the Wales Woodland Strategy – Woodlands for Wales. FCW manages the Assembly Government’s Woodland Estate in Wales, enforcing forestry regulations and delivery of woodland grants through the BWW scheme. On woodland grants, FCW has worked very closely with The Assembly Government’s Rural affairs Department for a number of years and woodland grants are part of the Wales RDP.
