How does foam flotation work in boats?
The foam flotation used in boats does not help a boat “float” during normal operation, but it can prevent a boat that has taken on water from sinking. Without foam or other flotation, a swamped fiberglass boat will sink. Foam has additional benefits. When properly installed, it can also add structural integrity to the stringer grid, and lock the gas tank in place. The foam used in Jones Brothers boats can withstand the combined effects of petroleum products like gasoline, bilge solvents, and fresh and salt water. Note: The flotation foam used by Jones Brothers produces zero harmful emissions.
