How does flight connection in Keflavik Airport (Iceland) work?
From my experience, there is a security check between the schengen section and the EU section of the terminal. So once you disembark off your NY flight, you will have to go through security check in order to enter the schengen departure area. In fact, I flew to Iceland last February and you must go through that security check (X-Ray and Metal detector) to exit the non-schengen area, so even if you don’t have a connecting flight and are staying in Iceland, you must go through that check to exit the airport. Don’t worry abnout time though, Keflavik is Icelandair’s hub and is designed to make transfer as easy as possible. It will take 10-15 minutes max fom you arrival to the departure gate.
