• All DVDs are optically read via a laser beam. The laser beam focuses through the surface of the disc onto an information layer, and is then reflected back to the DVD player’s photo detectors. Because DVDs are optically read, the clarity and transmission of light through the disc’s surface are critical to playback performance. Flexplay has developed a proprietary process that makes a DVD unreadable by the DVD player’s laser beam after a pre-determined time period lapses.
