How does FlexDeck allow for drainage?
It is important to remember FlexDeck is water permeable. Most of our customers would answer this question by saying a FlexDeck Surface neither improves nor hinders drainage patterns of the previous surface. This is to say that if standing water or poor drainage is problematic on your present surface it will probably continue to be a problem even with the application of a FlexDeck Surface. This is not the fault of the product but rather the substrate to which the FlexDeck Surface was applied. In theory, water is channeled through the EPDM granules at the same time as it rolls down the slope of the applied surface. Drainage is probably improved since the increased surface area between the granules and the inherent slope of the applied surface most likely provides for more rapid drainage Present drainage problems persist when the product is installed over a depressed or significantly damaged area on the applied surface.
