How does Felicita plan to transition from Reading First to the components in the Felicita Transformation Plan?
The conversations regarding the transition from Reading First began in the 08-09 school year. At that time the Leadership teams and Principals conducted a survey at all Reading First sites to determine components currently included in the Reading First Grant that would continue. Those components were then correlated with current district focus areas. As a part of the transition the focus for the 09/10 school year shifted from a focus on compliance (formal RTAC visits) to a focus on professional development, specifically the improvement of meeting students’ individual needs during Universal Access, which aligns with our district focus of improving student achievement by meeting the individual needs of all students.
